Are you looking for a way to get outside this winter and give feedback about your community? The Women’s Centre is teaming up with Sustainable Calgary to host a Women’s Safety Walk on Wednesday, February 4 at 5:30pm!
Last fall, we worked hard to engage members of the neighbourhoods around us and to talk about issues affecting their lives. Many women told us that they are concerned about safety in their communities. Join us while we visit different areas around Bridgeland-Riverside to identify exactly where women feel unsafe, and how they want to see those safety concerns addressed. We will look at how to increase women’s security in different ways, including at the individual, community, and societal/cultural levels. Sustainable Calgary will use recommendations in future plans to make the area more accessible for pedestrians, bicyclists and transit passengers.
If you’d like to participate, please join us at the Women’s Centre at 5:30pm for a short introduction before the walk. After we walk, we will return to the Centre for food, drinks and a debriefing session. We will finish no later than 8pm. The event is not limited to those who live in Bridgeland-Riverside – we would love to see anyone who works, plays or travels through the community at the walk!
Our community engagement work in 2014 was made possible by funding from The Calgary Foundation.
