Are you a member of the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB®) or do you know any CREB® members? If so, we need your help! We were nominated for CREB® Charitable Foundation’s $25,000 for 25 program.
CREB® members can vote for the Women’s Centre’s Lifelong Learning program here.
How it works:
- CREB® members have 10 votes per day during the voting period to allocate as they choose.
- The voting period runs from September 24, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. to October 21 at 12:00 p.m.
- The five organizations in each category with the highest number of votes will each be awarded a $25,000 grant.
With the support of CREB®‘s members, we can provide 1,500 women from the Calgary community with access to free, informal adult education. Please help spread the word!
About the Women’s Centre’s Lifelong Learning program:
The Women’s Centre’s Lifelong Learning program aims to help women who are disconnected from traditional education build their capacities and their skills, and increase their social support networks.
In 2013, we plan to offer more than 150 free, user-informed workshops ranging in topics from computer skills, money management, yoga, and self-defense to international women’s issues, crafts, resume writing, and self-esteem; ongoing groups include Practice English and Community Kitchen for women with disabilities.
Our Lifelong Learning program also provides women with opportunities to give back to the community.
“Some women who use the Centre offer to facilitate workshops, sharing their individual skill sets. Jackie, a woman who has been coming to the Centre for quite some time, volunteered to facilitate workshops, teaching women how to create dream catchers,” says Education Coordinator, Tahira Ebrahim.
“Our workshops provide women with opportunities to share their strengths, continuously learn and make new friendships along the way,” says Tahira.
