Winter is over and our workshops are in full swing for spring! Come join us for some of our returning favourites such as Yoga, Zumba and Practice English, or check out a few of the new additions to the calendar.

Some of our new workshops include:

Running Clinic | Every Monday and Wednesday, 6-7pm
Want to step your running up a notch? We are tying up our shoe laces for a two-month training series. Nicole, from Spa Lady, will be helping us train for the 2015 Calgary Marathon! (You do not need to be registered for the Marathon to participate in the clinics.)
Each week will get a little more challenging as we work through a series of walk and run progressions.

Self Defense | April 16 & 23, 6-8pm
Explore what situations and behaviours are safe and which are not. Learn basics on how to stay safe in your daily life and techniques for defending yourself against an attacker.

Sparkle Tattoos | April 17, 10am-12pm
Join us to get your very own sparkly temporary tattoo. You can choose from lots of fun designs and a ton of sparkly colours! This workshop will bring out the child in all of us!

Sparkle Tattoo

Art Across Ages | April 20 & 27, 4-6pm
Women and girls are all invited to participate in a three-part art activity that’s fun for all ages! Learn how to work with clay and make your own personalized zen garden. This session is designed for women from across generations to meet and create! Invite a young woman or teen in your life to join us for three afterschool sessions. Individual women are also welcome. Participants must be at least 8 years old and available for all three sessions.

Relaxation for Breathing | May 5, 1:30-2:30pm
Want to learn a few simple ways to relax through breathing? Discover and practice different types of breathing for relaxation while listening to calming music with friends at the Women’s Centre. You will leave this session relaxed, and have tools you can use when stressed for years to come.

Vietnamese Cuisine | May 7, 6-8pm
Cooking and conversation go well together. Learn the secret recipes of Northern Vietnamese ‘pho’ or noodle soup in the company of friends at the Women’s Centre. While the soup is cooking, we will have a demonstration on how to make traditional rice crepes from someone who fled the Vietnamese War. There will also be time for a discussion about war, displacement and the impact on women in Vietnam.

I Will What I Want: Women in Sports | May 14, 6-8pm
This workshop will discuss the recurring images and themes that we see and hear in the media around women in fitness and sports. The session will explore the social dynamics these images produce and their impact on women, whether they’re athletes or individuals with an active, healthy lifestyle. Women from all backgrounds are invited to give their input on how these social standards of fitness placed on women have affected themselves or women they know.

There are too many workshops to list them all here. To find the rest, like Nailed It, Art Journaling and Chinese Fusion, check out the full calendar. Girls are welcome to attend Art Across Ages. All other workshops are adults-only.

Please call 403-264-1155 or email marie@womenscentrecalgary.org to RSVP. We look forward to seeing you this spring!
