Renfrew Educational Services’ Wellness Empowerment Program (WEP) is coming to the Women’s Centre of Calgary to provide Mindfulness Program for all youth in grade 4 to 9. The programs are free of charge. The programs are open to children and youth of any gender who are going into grades 4 to 9 in September 2023.

The goal of the Mindulness Programs (the โ€œProgramsโ€) is to provide opportunities for children and youth of all genders (the โ€œParticipantsโ€) to connect with each other and practice mindfulness using fun activities and crafts.

Please note, while human sexuality is not an identified topic in the program, if Participants raise questions, they will be addressed in an age-appropriate way.

Location

The sessions will take place at the Womenโ€™s Centre of Calgary (#39- 4th Street NE, T2E 3R6).ย  On occasion, we may go offsite to nearby locations such as the local park, but we will strive to provide advanced notice. ย

We provide light snack and all supplies necessary. We will also provide bus tickets as needed for participants to attend the program.

Medical Condition

Participants with medical/health issues, allergies and/or injuries should get their doctorโ€™s permission to participate in the Programs. Participants must inform the Program Coordinator of any medical/health issues in the registration form. Participants who require medications during Program time must bring their own and be able to self-administer them. The Womenโ€™s Centre staff and volunteers shall not be responsible for administering or regulating any medications.

The Womenโ€™s Centre will attempt to reduce exposure to identified allergens but are not responsible for any allergens that the Participant might encounter during the Programs. The responsibility for effective allergy control is the Participantโ€™s, not the Womenโ€™s Centreโ€™s. The Participant must have any necessary allergy control tools (such as an Epipen) with them each time they attend.
