Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hello! I’m a new practicum student here. I’m currently completing my MSW in Clinical Social Work at the University of Calgary. I’ve been working in the human services field for six years with adolescents and hope to continue that work as I move forward in my career. In pre-pandemic times I enjoyed theatre, stand-up comedy and standing close to many people in various settings. Currently, I’m passionate about social work, boxing in my living room, and my inability to get off of TikTok.
What is your personal definition of feminism?
To me feminism is about striving to create a world in which all people regardless of personal circumstance have opportunities and access to the good life.
What brought you to the Women’s Centre of Calgary?
This organization has been doing amazing work for a long time and succeeds at helping create a better world for women. I’m so grateful to join all of the wonderful people doing this work.
What’s one thing you hope to learn at the Women’s Centre?
I’m looking forward to learning how all resources in Calgary interact with one another and how I can better support people accessing supports. I’m also interested in advocacy, social change and how the Women’s Centre is a part of that.
Describe a woman who you admire or who has influenced your life.
Shout out to my Mom who worked whatever job she could to support me growing up and continues to be my biggest support and fan through all of life’s adventures. Every resilience I have is because of you!
