Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Jeanna. I moved to Calgary from Brandon, Manitoba a year ago for the Bachelor of Social Work program at U of C. I have been enjoying exploring Calgary and seeing some of the wonderful things this city has to offer!

What is your personal definition of feminism?

My personal definition of feminism is empowering all women and those who identify as a woman, as well as advocating for women’s rights and equality.

What brought you to the Women’s Centre of Calgary?

I am completing my first practicum at the Women’s Centre. I chose the Women’s Centre because I have heard great things about it and the way it operates. I wanted to be a part of the amazing things the Women’s Centre does for women in Calgary.

What’s one thing you hope to learn at the Women’s Centre?

I hope to learn the best way to be an ally and how to effectively advocate for women and women’s rights

Describe a woman who you admire or who has influenced your life

A woman I admire and who has influenced my life is my mother. She is the most hardworking person I know and she shows every single person she meets love and respect. My mom is constantly learning and strives to be the best person she can be every day.
