It’s time for Girl Power again at the Women’s Centre! This year, the Women’s Centre is offering three Girl Power Camps, with the possibility of a fourth camp. The camps are open to all girls* between the ages of 10-12, and will take place on the weeks of July 14-18, July 21-25, August 11-15, and August 18-22 (tentative). Registration is now open for the two camps in July and the first camp in August.

Girl Power camps will be held at the Women’s Centre’s new location at 39 – 4th Street NE. The camps will run from 9am – 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am – 12:30pm on Friday, and are free of charge. Lunch, snacks, supplies, and bus tickets will be provided by the Women’s Centre.

The purpose of the camps is to provide girls with opportunities to connect with other girls, make new friends, and build community while they learn about empowerment, healthy relationships, body image, gender, diversity, self-esteem and activism. There will also be hands-on opportunities for girls to participate in activities such as art, theatre, dance, self-defense, and more. We hope that girls will come out of the camps with a greater understanding of who they are, appreciation for being girls, and skills for supporting other girls.

*Priority will be given to girls who haven’t attended Girl Power in the past. Girls who have attended previous camps will initially be placed on a waitlist and will be contacted at a later date if space is still available.
