Summer is on its way and we are gearing up for our popular Girl Power summer camps!  Each summer, the camps attract dozens of girls who are interested in learning new things and talking about issues that are important to them. The camps give girls with a space to be themselves, understand their own values and strengths, and ultimately be proud to be a girl.

Throughout the week, girls are able to connect with other girls while exploring issues that impact them. In previous years, this has included media and body image, self-esteem, bullying and healthy relationships. Although the topics may be serious, we talk about them in fun ways! Crafts, theatre projects, dancing, and games are just some of the ways that we create and facilitate invigorating discussions between the girls. Towards the end of each week, we also explore activism and different ways for girls to make changes in their own lives and communities, working to foster an understanding of bottom-up leadership.

The Girl Power summer camps are for girls aged 10-12, and are free of cost. Lunch, snacks, bus tickets, and a t-shirt are included with registration! Summer camps in 2016 will be during the weeks of July 4-8, and August 8-12. Camps run from 9:00am-4:00pm Monday-Thursday, and 9:00am-12:30pm on Fridays.
