Pandemic Recovery: How do We Build a More Equal Future for Women?

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed and deepened inequalities in our society, hitting lower-income women who experience intersecting inequalities based on race, Indigeneity, disability, immigration status and gender identity the hardest.

As we look towards recovery, how do we ensure that in the future, wealth, work and care responsibilities are more fairly distributed, and that everyone can engage in society on more equitable and just terms?

We will start by exploring some big ideas for systemic change that women’s organizations and experts from across Canada have been identifying over the last year.  They aim to address the roots of gender and other inequalities in our society and in the economy, and range from granting permanent residence status to temporary migrant workers doing essential work, to creating a system of high quality child care accessible to all, to stronger labour protections to ensure decent work for women.

Join us on Wed, April 14, 6-7:30pm, to hear about some of these ideas and proposals for a more just and equal future for women, and to share your experiences, ideas and hopes!

This event and your contributions will set the Women’s Centre on a path of developing proposals that best reflect the needs of our community.
